Reviews #2

Waiting for Godot, The Adventure Continues by Sean Hurley - Sherwin Sleeves continues the adventures of Vladimir & Estragon (Waiting for Godot) as they ponder what it is to be destroyed and the phonetic execution of the alphabet.  Very good character  and set design (strong shadow, light and reflections to create something of a expressionist vibe), but the standout feature here is the  amazing voice work that feels like falling asleep in a sea of dark chocolate.  I didn't always follow what was being said but I always enjoyed listening to it.

Filthy Love Part 1 by Gettaroboshinwun - A well made music video (impressive native render and character models. Smooth and natural animation) with a pretty girl dancing on a pole and a bed while a guy speaks in earnest to her.  As Peggy Lee asks "Is that all there is?"  Well, no.  90% of the way to completion something substantially different happens which got my attention but also gave me a bit of whiplash. I kinda wish the narrative worked its way throughout the video instead of just hitting there at the end. Guess I'll have to wait to see what happens next.

The Ring of Power; A Hobbits Tale by Kissler101 - Combining the audio of a radio play with the Peter Jackson trilogy Kidder is ambitiously recreating the Tolkien classic. The Shire is sprawling and alive with some of the most impressive crowd scenes and exterior sets I've seen in Iclone. Worth a look.

3D Animation Quick Tips #1

Iclone provides a series of simple 3D Space props that have the exterior walls hidden which allows you to see inside the room (good for you know, creating sets).  This characteristic also provides more options for camerawork without a wall getting into the shot.  However, these default props are very simple.  How can I achieve this effect in Blender where I can add windows and doors and whatever customization I want?

Well I created a short little tutorial this evening to do just that.  Enjoy!

Lonely

Hello world.  Hello ladies.  Small victories and big rejections.  How'd you make out Tonto?

Lonely (Ep1) WIP #2

Labor Day weekend was unexpectedly productive for me as I moved episode 1 from 40% complete on Friday to 85% complete today.  Hoping to complete everything in about a week.

Hello Ladies!

I'm trying to focus my recent script efforts on clear story ideas that answer basic questions (Can these three crooks get into heaven?  Yes!).  However, Lonely is more of just a clever (eh?) scenario and a somewhat fun hang...What if the Lone Ranger and Tonto lived in Hipsterville Brooklyn?  This distinction wasn't clear to me when I wrote it back in November but its pretty clear to me now.

That's ok (it better be, I'm 85% complete...hehe).  Lonely is a fun project with more than a little of my own experiences embedded in the tale.  The voice work came out well, I think its looking pretty good and I get to sing and play a bit of the ukulele.  And if the tale continues (I got an early draft of a second episode) it will likely be similar stakes.  We shall see.

Also considering a discussion video to go over the story concepts, the script, the Iclone production, thoughts on Iclone 8 and whatnot.  We spend so much time creating these projects, then we finish and post them on YouTube and move on to the next thing while they get 100 to 200 views if you're lucky.  Doubt it would garner too many views but it would allow me to put my thoughts down in one place.  Maybe I'll do a blog post instead.  Will have to think on it.
