Video Projects

IClone Projects (affection rating +)
  • Gunderson (Dec 2023) -  My favorite script to date, most VAs, most sets and most extras I've ever put on screen.  A very ambitious project that stayed on schedule but in the end I decided to cut the 16 minute project into three parts and I'm just not very happy with that decision.
  • Hail to Thee, Ralph King (March 2023) - Key visual scene from my imagination to the screen is the introductory new employee video in the supply closet and the death by poison scene.  Feels like growth in both the scriptwriting and filmmaking.  Three good production released in the last 12 months.  Color me pleased (+)
  • Lonely Episode 1 (Oct 2022) - Really solid entry with a key visual moment (the horse rearing in the city) that came out like I imagined it, a good use of my custom bar interior and an ending that pays homage to Michael Clayton while allowing me to sing a sad Lee Hazelwood song (+)
  • 5 Minutes To Heaven (July 2022) - A positive production (custom characters, custom sets, a consistent soundtrack) and a positive result.  Visual highlights include: the rise to Heaven, the fall to earth and the depiction of Hell complete with the floating clock to indicate the passage of time. Longer than I hoped but I enjoy this one a lot. (++)
  • Bigfoot Stories (Jan 2022) - Another one take VO wonder created as an excuse to show my silly bigfoot character that uses particle effects for hair.  I do southern man accents pretty damned good. (+)
  • Perchance to Dream (May 2021) - Less inclined to conduct another community movie night (Ken always helped set those up for me) I decided to see if there was any interest in a collaborative project centered on Dreams.  I kept a dream diary and captured three consecutive dreams in detail and turned two of them into strange little tales.  Three others contributed to the project and it ends up being a relative success (it was completed so that's a win).
  • A Knight to Dismember (August 2020) - After purchasing a boatload of outdated props and characters at steep discounts I decided to find a way to use them.  A surprisingly fun production (the incredibly terrible Elvis performance sets the tone early) that looks decent but the improvised story is not great.  And look, I put myself in the story...again.  What was cute in 2011 in sure as shit cliched now.  Still, the fact that it was fun to make turned me a bit more productive.
  • Gentrified Part 1 (Sept 2017) + Part 2 (Sept 2018) - I asked Ken White to write a 3 or 4 part script based on a particular premise and he came through (Ken always came through).  Watched a fair amount of crime flicks from the 70s and 80s and tried to implement the washed out look and no nonsense vibe.  Pretty good results (however, the lip sync is weirdly terrible.  Would consider remaking these parts just for the improved lip sync feature).  Still missing the part 3 finale.  Its on my list of things to do...
  • Tsucano (June 2017) - Another collaborative effort with my son, I was excited to use my island volcano set.  Its a solid setup and a weak ending. Par.
  • TMU Movie (Feb 2016) - Definitively not fun to make.  A lot of work collecting the stories, animating the characters and organizing the production.  Felt like a job, which is not what I look for in a production.  In the end it's an admirable documentary on an important part of my life that was a major part of the TMU weekend (maybe the last gasp of the TMU community).
  • Chillin With Plato (Feb 2015) - Fun little one scene joke (the origin of famous quotes) that incorporates a fair amount of pose to pose animation.  Solid. (+)
  • Meatier (2012) + Kid Millions Episode 1 (2012), Episode 2 (Jan 2013), Episode 3 (Nov 2014) - Firmly ensconced in the child rearing years, these flicks all feature Kid Millions and are largely an excuse to create something when I was none too creatively inspired.  The fam enjoyed them.
  • The Urban Explorers Guide to Losing Yourself (2012) - I think this one made it into the jury pool in that years machinima festival.  I remember being pretty proud of this one but watching it now, it feels pompous and a bit boring.  The set work is pretty cool with abandoned hospitals, schools and factories.  Also fun to have Jase180 working the bar.
  • MC Donald Steps in Poop (Feb 2012) - After a rough morning with a 5 year old, I recorded the VOs for this tale into my phone in one take.  Ended up using these messed up 80s McDonald characters that I had originally intended for use in a violent Lego world heist movie (woulda been cool).  I love one take wonders. (+)
  • Sushi Ronin (Sept 2011) - Won a Reallusion contest with this one and scored a pretty cool video camera.   Was reading save the cat at the time so this followed some actual story rules and turned out really well.  Superb voice acting by Act3Scene24, Lizard and GoofParade and some cute visuals (The first version of Crazy Talk Animator) by me.  Pretty high on my best work list. (++)
  • Tan Julius' Poetry Minute (2011) - Another Halloween entry, this one has a nice simple setup and delivers an ending.  Looks good.  Success! (+)
  • House of Horror (2010) - Really fun production cycle (and a great production thread lost to the scattered sands of the TMU forums) racing against a Halloween deadline to create a virtual (first person) haunted house.  From concept to reality this was a big success. (+)
  • Monsters of the Atomic Age (2010) - Originated form a wiki entry about "the most famous monster suit actor" to play Godzilla.  Cool idea, some fun scenes, stylish but confounding ending.  Not quite the crowd pleaser I hoped.
  • Genie and the Trashman (2010) - An attempt at expressionist visuals inspired by TM's Trashman's Utarefson (a classic TMO flick)
  • Sleeper (2009) - An excerpt from the TMU Tom Wopat Christmas Special its a black comedy wrapped in construction paper cutout visuals.  2D as 3D? (+)
  • Tales from the People Zoo (2009) - A collection of zany ideas.  Not all work (most dont) but I still quote the sad bird watcher whenever I'm in the woods.  Ooh look, a big titted booby cock and pecker!
